Death of Palestinian Player in Israeli Airstrike East of Gaza

The Palestinian Al-Zeitoun Sports Club announced the death of its player, Youssef Qadoom, as a result of Israeli airstrikes targeting a group of civilians in Al-Shujaiya neighborhood, east of Gaza. The Palestinian news agency "Shihab" reported in a statement from the club that the "young martyr Qadoom, 24 years old, was near his home with several neighbors when they were suddenly hit by missiles from the enemy's aircraft." The statement added that the karate player from the club was martyred immediately after the targeting, wishing him mercy and offering condolences to his family for his death. The club called on "all human rights and international organizations to intervene to stop the series of daily crimes committed by the occupation against athletes." Qadoom was considered one of the distinguished players in the club's karate team and had participated in many sports tournaments. Israel launched a military campaign today, which an Israeli army spokesman stated was against the Islamic Jihad movement in the Gaza Strip, named "Al-Fajr Al-Sadiq."
