The German vaccine manufacturer "BioNTech" announced today, Thursday, that it will seek authorization for its COVID-19 vaccine for children aged 12 years and older in the European Union. A spokesperson for the company stated that the application is likely to be submitted "in the coming days" to the European Medicines Agency. Meanwhile, the magazine "Der Spiegel" reported that the application is scheduled to be submitted next Wednesday. BioNTech's CEO, Ugur Sahin, said: "We have submitted study data for those aged 12 to 15 years for approval in the United States; as for Europe, we are in the final steps," according to "Der Spiegel." Typically, the approval process at the European Medicines Agency takes only a few weeks.
