The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division has issued the following statement: "On July 19, 2022, the body of citizen A.S. (born in 1979) was found bleeding inside his car in the Mirna el-Chalouhi area. A forensic examination revealed that the deceased had been subjected to slashing and stabbed with 19 stabs in various parts of his body. Immediately, the specialized units in the Information Branch began their field procedures and inquiries to uncover the circumstances of the horrifying murder, identify the perpetrator, and apprehend him.
After inspecting the crime scene and its surroundings and listening to witness statements, the Information Branch was able, within a few hours, to identify the suspect, who is the brother-in-law of the victim, named M.M. (born in 1974, Lebanese). The special force of the branch was commissioned to locate and apprehend him as quickly as possible, in coordination with the judiciary.
On July 19, 2022, after careful surveillance, the mentioned special force managed to spot the perpetrator in the Sin el-Fil area, where they set up a well-planned ambush and successfully arrested him. During the investigation, and after confronting him with compelling evidence proving his involvement, he confessed that he committed the crime alone with a knife due to an immediate argument that occurred between him and the victim arising from previous family disputes. He stabbed him 19 times in the abdomen, back, and chest, then proceeded to slit his throat. He also admitted to disposing of the weapon in a waste container. The necessary legal measures were taken against him, and he was referred to the concerned authority based on the judicial directive."
