Biden Suggests New Health Restrictions to Combat COVID-19

U.S. President Joe Biden indicated on Friday that new health recommendations or restrictions to confront COVID-19 may be issued soon in the United States, while welcoming the rapid resurgence of vaccinations in the country. In response to a question about whether Americans should expect additional recommendations from health authorities or new mandatory measures, Biden told reporters, "probably." However, the president did not specify the type of measures he was referring to, as federal authorities, local officials, and companies have begun to tighten health protocols. Despite this, Biden stated that the United States had a "good day" for vaccinations on Thursday, with nearly one million shots administered, as his administration works to accelerate the vaccination drive, which had experienced a slow decline. Biden made these remarks before departing the White House on the presidential helicopter for the weekend. In response to the rapidly spreading Delta variant, U.S. authorities have advised citizens in areas with high virus transmission to wear masks indoors, even if they are fully vaccinated.
