Kissinger: Major Events Coming in the Middle East

Henry Kissinger stated that Western countries should consider Russian interests when discussing a peaceful settlement in Ukraine to avoid increasing Chinese influence over Moscow. In an interview published on Saturday evening on the website of the British "Sunday Times," Kissinger said, "The question now is how to end this war. Once it ends, a place must be found for Ukraine, as well as for Russia, if we do not want Russia to become a frontline for China in Europe."

Speaking about NATO, Kissinger noted the importance of maintaining the alliance that "reflects cooperation between Europe and America," but emphasized the need to "recognize the reality that major events are coming" in the Middle East and Asia. He added, "NATO member states gathered over the Ukraine issue because it reminded them of old threats. They have done exceptionally well, and I support what they have done."
