An Australian man reported finding a "creature" he believes to be extraterrestrial while walking on a beach in Queensland, northeastern Australia, last week. Alex Tan posted a video showing what he described as an alien creature on the Queensland beach, stating, "I found something strange." He added that it has a head resembling that of an opossum but is different from anything he has seen before.
Later, he informed the social media content monitoring agency "Storyful" that the animal has hands similar to human hands, a long lizard-like tail, and a nose similar to that of an opossum. The American news network CBS reported that the video sparked hundreds of theories online aimed at explaining the identity of the creature's carcass found on Australian shores.
Among the theories suggested is that the animal is the mythical creature "Chupacabra" or an extinct marsupial similar to a kangaroo. Stephen Johnson, an assistant professor at the University of Queensland, stated that the animal is likely a swollen and waterlogged opossum that has lost its fur. He added that the skull and limbs support this theory, suggesting that the animal may have been washed into the ocean by floodwaters.
