The world is eagerly awaiting the most important sports event, the finals of the Qatar World Cup, set to begin in November. Lebanese people are showing significant enthusiasm for this topic. It is circulated that despite the difficult conditions in the country and the ongoing economic and living crisis, bookings are doing reasonably well, as Qatar is relatively close to Lebanon. Many have saved what they can to attend matches of one of the most popular sports in Lebanon and globally.
In this context, Jean Aboud, the head of the Lebanese Travel Agencies Association, reveals that there are no specific or accurate numbers regarding the bookings of Lebanese people traveling to Qatar to attend the World Cup. There are no statistics on the number, nor organized trips, but there is demand from families and individuals through various travel companies.
He indicates in an interview with MTV that Lebanese citizens are keen on traveling to Doha shortly before the World Cup begins, to participate in this important global event to support their favorite teams. Aboud explains that traveling to Qatar will be through several travel agencies, which have varying ticket prices, something he considers a significant factor affecting travel patterns as well.
On another note, data shows that the Lebanese community in Qatar and other Gulf countries will participate robustly in attending the matches, with many families having booked in advance. Thus, the crises do not hinder the Lebanese from doing what they love, especially if the event is the Qatar World Cup, anticipated for four years, and coming under tough circumstances wherein every Lebanese needs a small escape from reality.
