The Dubai Globe Soccer Awards will showcase its twelfth edition on the evening of December 27 at the iconic Al Wasl Dome in the heart of Expo 2020 Dubai. The event will be attended by a host of global football stars, guests of the Dubai Sports Conference, and winners of this prestigious international award. This new edition will include 14 categories, including the top award for the best women's team of the year, as well as the award for the best female player, highlighting the steady growth of professional women’s football.
The most anticipated category is the Best Player in the World, featuring nominees celebrated in Dubai previously, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Mohamed Salah, alongside Robert Lewandowski, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar Jr. The competition will be fierce among Messi, Salah, and Ronaldo, with Salah being the standout player in recent times, having scored 17 goals in 17 matches with his club Liverpool across all competitions.
Among the award contenders are this year's title winners from Europe and South America, including Italy, Argentina, and Chelsea, as well as domestic league champions like Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, and Lille from France.
In the Best Coach of the Year category, 14 names have been nominated, including the coaches from the European Championship final, Roberto Mancini of Italy and Gareth Southgate of England, alongside other prominent coaches such as Thomas Tuchel and Pep Guardiola, and Lionel Scaloni, who led Argentina to victory in the Copa America.
Fifteen nominees will compete for the Best Club of the Year award, showcasing elite representation from European football with nine nominees from England, Spain, Germany, Italy, and France. Dubai Sports Council Secretary General Saeed Hareb stated in a press release: "The scene on the evening of December 27 will be spectacular and filled with global football stars at the iconic Al Wasl Dome at Expo Dubai. We are pleased that this event, combining the star session of the Dubai Sports Conference and the prestigious Dubai Globe Soccer Awards distribution, will be a highlight to conclude a year full of major global football events for the world’s most famous sport."
As in the previous year, football fans around the world will have the opportunity to vote for the top five finalists from the initial nominees in each category via the website vote.globesoccer.com. Winners will be determined by public voting and an international panel of sports coaches, directors, and club presidents.
