The Vice President of the Union of Bakeries and Ovens in Lebanon, Ali Ibrahim, expressed regret in a statement over the ongoing rush of citizens to bakeries to obtain a loaf of bread due to the recurring crises in this sector, which are unrelated to bakery owners. He stated, "This rush exposes citizens to humiliation and bakery owners to problems we are better off without during this difficult time that Lebanon is going through. Therefore, we call on all municipalities to protect the bakeries and prevent issues between citizens themselves as well as between them and the workers in the bakeries."
He noted that "the meeting held by bakers and bakery owners with the Minister of Economy and Trade was to set things straight and was successful; however, we have not seen any positive developments today regarding the supply of flour to all bakeries. We hope this issue will be resolved next week. We also wish some media outlets would exercise accuracy and avoid misleading public opinion."
