President of the Republic Michel Aoun discussed with Minister of Interior and Municipalities Mohammad Fahmy the security conditions in the country during their meeting this morning at Baabda Palace. This discussion was informed by reports from security agencies, particularly in light of the general mobilization imposed due to the spread of the "COVID-19" pandemic.
The conversation also addressed the subject of by-elections to fill the ten vacant seats in the Parliament. In attendance were former Minister Salim Jreisati, Director General of the Presidency Dr. Antoine Shakib, and diplomatic advisor Osama Khashab. They discussed the ongoing cooperation between the organization and the Lebanese state, as well as the activities carried out by the organization in Lebanon. Mr. Ziyoud praised the "constant responsiveness" he received from Lebanese administrations he collaborated with since establishing the office in 2006, outlining the nature of the tasks the organization has undertaken over those years. He expressed hope that his successor, Mr. Luciano, would receive the same support. President Aoun wished Mr. Ziyoud success in his new duties and welcomed his successor, affirming "Lebanon's commitment to enhancing cooperation with the organization in its operational fields."
