Giant Asteroids Approaching Earth: What About the "Catastrophic Scenario"?

Giant Asteroids Approaching Earth: What About the

The Near-Earth Object Studies Center (CNEO), part of NASA, announced that two giant asteroids will approach Earth this week. It was explained that the size of each asteroid is equivalent to a football field, with the asteroids "2021 HC3" and "2021 AE4" passing by Earth during its orbit around the sun, at a distance nearly 18 times that which separates us from the moon. According to the American magazine "Newsweek," although the asteroids will be 4.3 million miles away, the Near-Earth Object Studies Center indicated a possibility of observing brightness emitted by them.

Scientists estimate that the diameter of asteroid "2021 HC3" could reach 984 feet, making it larger than a football field and the Empire State Building, while asteroid "2021 AE4" has a diameter of 853 feet. The Earth attracts about 100 tons of materials from space daily, most of which consist of small dust particles. It is exceedingly rare for a large-sized asteroid to strike Earth, but the Near-Earth Object Studies Center warned of the potential for a colossal asteroid collision with Earth every 10,000 years. Simulations overseen by NASA concluded that a catastrophe caused by an asteroid collision with Earth cannot be avoided, even if we are given a six-month preparation period.

According to the newspaper "The Independent," such a "catastrophic scenario," which was discussed at the United Nations-sponsored Planetary Defense Conference, demonstrated that countries around the world are unprepared for such types of disasters.
