Public Dispute Erupts

The disagreement has clearly burst into the open between the designated president Najib Mikati and the presidency, specifically with the head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Deputy Gibran Bassil. Mikati's statement was vocal and addressed directly to the presidency and those surrounding it, detailing what had occurred with him over the past few days, particularly regarding his request for an appointment from the presidential palace and not receiving any response.

Former Deputy Ali Darwish considered that "the designated president clarified matters after the confusion that arose following the tweet Bassil published," indicating "that some are attempting to provoke Mikati into escalation, which he is not inclined to at all. When he submitted the draft government formation to President Michel Aoun, it was more than serious, and he is open to negotiations on it. It is unacceptable for him to be accused of not wanting to form the government when he is far from engaging in disputes with anyone."

Darwish noted through "Anbaa," that the lack of a response to the appointment request for a meeting with President Aoun reflects "that there are parties trying to disrupt the relationship between the two presidents," reiterating, "If the issue of government formation were left to Aoun and Mikati without interventions from this party or that, matters would have gone in a positive direction."
