Lebanon Qualifies for FIBA Asia Cup Under-16 Championship

Lebanon has qualified for the FIBA Asia Cup for boys under 16 after finishing its four matches in the West Asian Championship held in Jordan, which included 5 countries, concluding on Saturday with a victory over Syria with a score of 79-63, marking a 16-point margin in their fourth match played on Friday afternoon. The Lebanese team achieved its third win in the regional championship following significant victories against the host country Jordan on Tuesday and Iraq on Wednesday, alongside the win against Syria on Friday, while suffering one loss to Iran on Thursday. Both Lebanon and Iran qualified justly for the continental championship to be held in the Qatari capital, Doha, in June.

The Iranian and Lebanese teams have proven to be the strongest in the region, qualifying for the Asia Championship. This qualification for the junior team follows the Lebanese men's team's historic win of the Arab Championship title a few months ago, showcasing the progress Lebanese basketball has made, especially with the Lebanese Federation's support for the promising young generation through organizing age category championships that have seen great success on all levels. It is noteworthy that four of the participating teams in the Asia Championship next June will qualify for the World Championship to be held in Spain in July.
