Israeli media reported that Prime Minister Naftali Bennett traveled to Egypt on Monday for an unannounced visit, where he will hold talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. No official confirmation of the visit has been issued by either Israel or Egypt. Last week, Bennett referred to what he described as increased cooperation between Israel and Egypt, adding that strengthening relations could contribute to regional security. The two countries signed a peace agreement in 1979. Last week, Israel and Egypt agreed to expand aviation links by adding a new direct route between Tel Aviv and the Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh, expected to commence next month. Bennett visited Egypt in September and discussed bilateral relations, security, and economic issues with Sisi, marking the first official visit by an Israeli Prime Minister to Egypt in nearly ten years.
