Berri:

President Nabih Berri denied rumors about his intention to refrain from running for the presidency of the Parliament, responding to a question from "An-Nahar" by saying "That's their wish," placing it in the context of the wishes of those opposing his re-election. Regarding the speculation about a deal between the Amal Movement and the Free Patriotic Movement that would involve the Free Patriotic Movement's deputies voting for Berri in exchange for Amal's deputies voting for MP Elias Bou Saab, he responded, "There are no settlements in this regard, and nothing has been agreed upon so far," reminding that there are additional candidates alongside Bou Saab, namely MPs Ghassan Hasbani and Melhem Khalaf. Berri renewed his warning that "the country faces two choices: either rise above the division between majorities and minorities and agree to prioritize addressing urgent major challenges, especially in the economic and social fields, or prepare for a bleak future."
