In the context of the work carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Bureau of the Judicial Police Unit to combat drug smuggling operations, information was obtained regarding plans by individuals to smuggle a quantity of drugs hidden inside a surfboard intended for shipment to a European country. On June 15, 2022, as a result of extensive investigations and inquiries, the location of the drugs prepared for smuggling, weighing 1.5 kg of marijuana in the Al-Dahieh area, was identified, and a patrol from the bureau managed to seize it. The identities of two smugglers were also determined: Lebanese nationals S.S. (born in 1992) and L.S. (born in 1977).
On June 16, 2022, in a simultaneous operation, the special unit of the judicial police arrested one of the suspects in the Jaitah area, while the other was captured by a team from the Anti-Narcotics Bureau in Beirut. S.S. was found in possession of a quantity of cocaine intended for distribution, 1.6 kg of marijuana, a sensitive scale, and a military weapon.
Investigations are ongoing under the supervision of the relevant judiciary, and efforts continue to apprehend all those involved.
