10 Facts About the New iMac: What Does the Screen Look Like?

Apple has introduced the brand new iMac during its annual Spring event held yesterday, showcasing significant updates to its devices and a variety of new products. Here are the top 10 features of the new iMac:

1. The new iMac features a noticeably smaller design, powered by the M1 chip. It offers powerful performance in a profile that is only 11.5 millimeters thick and comes in a range of colors.

2. One of the standout features is the 24-inch Retina display with 4.5K resolution, boasting 11.3 million pixels, 500 nits of brightness, and over a billion colors.

3. The new iMac also includes a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, studio-quality microphones, and a six-speaker sound system.

4. For the first time, Touch ID comes to the iMac, allowing for secure login, Apple Pay purchases, and user profile switching with the touch of a finger. The combination of the M1 chip and macOS Big Sur allows applications to run swiftly, making demanding tasks like 4K video editing and working with large images faster than ever.

5. The iMac is equipped with a new power connector that attaches magnetically, featuring an Ethernet port and a two-meter cable. The display is expansive with 24 inches and 4.5K resolution along with narrower bezels.

6. The screen also features True Tone technology, which automatically adjusts the color temperature based on the surrounding environment. Additionally, it features an anti-reflective coating for enhanced comfort and readability.

7. Each iMac comes with two Thunderbolt ports for ultra-fast data transfer, providing options for connecting more devices, including support for displays up to 6K resolution, such as the Pro Display XDR.

8. The eight-core iMac includes two additional USB-C ports, as well as a one-gigabit-per-second Ethernet port in the power adapter. It offers strong performance compared to the standard 21.5-inch iMac models, thanks to its high efficiency, unified memory architecture, and a 16-core Apple Neural Engine.

9. The iMac also benefits from the image signal processor in the M1 chip and the Neural Engine, improving camera image quality and reducing noise effectively.

10. For the first time, Touch ID is available on the iMac, applied wirelessly through the Magic Keyboard using a dedicated security component that connects directly to the Secure Enclave in the M1, protecting fingerprint data.

The new 24-inch iMac is available for order starting from Friday, with deliveries expected to begin in the second half of May.
