Position of the Lebanese Forces on the Election of the President and Vice President of the Council

A statement was issued by the “Strong Republic” bloc, which held an extraordinary meeting today, chaired by the leader of the Lebanese Forces party, Samir Geagea, with the attendance of all members of the bloc. The meeting aimed to discuss the upcoming session of the Parliament, scheduled for tomorrow morning, Tuesday, to elect the President of the Parliament, the Vice President, and the Bureau of the Council.

As a result of the discussions, the members decided to respond to the invitation of the oldest member for the session tomorrow, designated for the election of the President, Vice President, and the Bureau of the Council. The bloc also decided the following:

- Regarding the position of the President of the Parliament, they will vote with a blank ballot to affirm the bloc’s publicly declared position.

- Regarding the Vice Presidency, the bloc has decided, based on its efforts from the very beginning to preserve the sovereign change majority and its unity, to hold off on taking a final position on the Vice Presidency and to continue its conciliatory efforts, awaiting the reaching of a unified candidate for the mentioned majority.
