The National News Agency reported gunfire inside a mobile phone store in the Tal region, after unknown assailants shot at several individuals. Army personnel arrived at the scene, established a security cordon, and detonated a bomb that was thrown in front of the store. Following the armed robbery in Tripoli that resulted in four fatalities, Minister of Interior and Municipalities Bassam Mawlawi contacted the Director General of Internal Security Forces, Major General Imad Othman, for immediate intervention to control the situation and ensure the safety of the city and its residents.
Immediately, security forces launched patrols and established fixed and mobile checkpoints in the vicinity of the site that experienced tensions due to the incident. Mawlawi emphasized the necessity of maintaining security and order, noting that a meeting of the Central Internal Security Council will be convened to bring together all security leaders to develop a security plan in light of recent events. Prime Minister Najib Mikati monitored the unfortunate incident in Tripoli and conducted a series of calls with Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi, Army Commander General Joseph Aoun, and security leaders, stressing "the need to control the situation, enhance security measures, and not allow anyone to disrupt the security of Tripoli and the safety of its people."
