A Egyptian journalist working at the Al-Ahram institution took his own life by hanging inside the premises early Thursday morning. Sources revealed to "Al-Arabiya.net" that the journalist, identified as Emad El-Feky, committed suicide by hanging himself, resulting in his head, which was severed from his body, falling from the balcony of his office on the fourth floor.
According to investigations, the incident occurred at 4:50 AM, when a worker at a nearby church found the journalist's head lying in the barrier between the two buildings of the press institution close to the church. It was determined that the journalist hanged himself with a rope from the window of his office, and due to the weight of his body, his head was separated from his torso, landing in a narrow street between the adjacent buildings.
The sources indicated that the journalist, in his fifties and working in the news department of the prestigious institution, was a candidate to head the department and had no known issues at work or with colleagues. The prosecution has taken over the investigation, ordering the summoning of some eyewitnesses, the journalist's two wives, and the review of surveillance camera footage.
