The Ministry of National Defense in the caretaker government has issued a decision regarding the suspension of sessions and administrative proceedings in military courts.
The National News Agency reported that the Minister of National Defense in the caretaker government, Zeina Akar, issued decision number 114/W, which stipulated the suspension of sessions and administrative proceedings in military courts. The decision explained that the Minister of National Defense, based on Decree No. 6157 dated 21/1/2020 (formation of the government), based on Legislative Decree No. 102/83 dated 16/9/1983 (National Defense Law) and its amendments, and based on Law No. 24/68 dated 13/4/1968 (Military Judiciary Law and its amendments, especially Article One), has decided to suspend sessions and administrative proceedings in military courts and all related departments until the morning of 22/2/2021.
The second article of the decision exempted cases concerning requests for the release of detainees and those held in custody, as well as urgent matters and cases of extreme necessity only. Additionally, administrative proceedings in the departments and offices responsible for implementing what is stated in items 1 and 2 above are to be maintained with due consideration for safety measures and the prevention of the coronavirus.
