Meeting at the Government Serail to Discuss Student Dollar

The caretaker Prime Minister Dr. Hassan Diab held a meeting at the Government Serail to follow up on the issue of the student dollar.

The National Media Agency reported that the meeting was attended by ministers Ghazi Wazni and Charbel Wahbi, the Governor of the Central Bank Riad Salameh, the President of the Banking Association Salim Sfeir, Board Member of the Banking Association Tanal Sabah, Secretary General of the Cabinet Judge Mahmoud Makie, and a delegation from the Lebanese Association of Parents of Students in Foreign Universities, which included Sheikh Jihad Abdullah and gentlemen Rabi Kanj, Naif Ghaith, Eli Ferrah, Asaad Al-Daher, Mohammad Abdullah, Father Ziad Haddad, and Mrs. Dallal Akhrass.

The agency added that the meeting discussed practical and appropriate solutions for the implementation of Law No. 193 issued by the Parliament regarding the transfer of funds to Lebanese students abroad. During the meeting, Prime Minister Diab emphasized that this issue is a priority that calls for finding solutions as quickly as possible, stressing the need for the relevant parties to immediately begin implementing the law and obligating banks to transfer funds to Lebanese university students abroad. The agency reported that the Banking Association committed to issuing a statement today to announce the banks' commitment to applying the law.
