Dr. Zahra Pavlova, an endocrinologist at the Scientific Medical Center of Moscow University, announced that taking vitamins can improve health but may also lead to weight gain. The specialist indicates in an interview with Radio Sputnik that many people regularly take vitamins as dietary supplements, but they can have negative consequences. This is because vitamins not only enhance health but also stimulate feelings of hunger. She states, "People consider vitamins to be stimulants. However, this is incorrect from a medical perspective. Vitamins do indeed improve metabolism and increase appetite. The reason for weight gain during vitamin intake is not that they contain calories, but because they stimulate appetite and the desire to eat."
She advises individuals who regularly take vitamins to engage in exercise and eat "reasonably." She says, "To avoid the negative effects (weight gain) of vitamins, more movement and activity are required to burn excess calories. Because movement is life. Additionally, when eating, one should avoid watching television or doing any other tasks. This is because, in such cases, a person chews food poorly and tries to swallow quickly, leading to poor absorption and not giving a sense of fullness, which encourages overeating."
