Countries with the Most Ticket Purchases for the 2022 World Cup

The International Football Federation (FIFA) announced the sale of 2,450,000 tickets for the 2022 World Cup matches in Qatar, approximately three months before the start of the tournament, which is the first edition of the World Cup in the Arab world and the Middle East. Leading the list of countries purchasing World Cup tickets are fans from Qatar, the United States, England, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, the UAE, France, Argentina, Brazil, and Germany, all eager to attend the championship matches, which will bring together local supporters and football fans from around the globe in closely situated stadiums with world-class infrastructure.

During the previous sales phase, which ran from July 5 to August 16, based on the order of purchase, 520,532 tickets were sold, most of them for attending group stage matches such as Cameroon vs. Brazil, Brazil vs. Serbia, Portugal vs. Uruguay, Costa Rica vs. Germany, and Australia vs. Denmark. Fans residing in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Mexico, the UAE, England, Argentina, Brazil, Wales, and Australia topped the digital waiting lists and secured the most tickets.

FIFA urged ticket winners to quickly plan their trips to attend the tournament, initiate accommodation bookings for fans coming from outside Qatar, and apply for the Hayya Card or Hayya to Qatar 2022 app (available for Apple and Android), which allows ticket holders access to the tournament stadiums, permits international fans to enter Qatar, offers free public transport on match days, and provides additional benefits.

FIFA clarified that it will announce the final sales phase in late September according to the order of purchase, where fans will receive tickets immediately after payment. Sales at ticket distribution outlets in Doha will begin following the launch of the final sales phase, which will continue until the end of the tournament. FIFA.com/tickets is the official and sole channel for purchasing tickets, urging the public to avoid dealing with unauthorized sales channels and websites.
