Real Madrid Defeats Granada 4-1 and Temporarily Tops La Liga

Real Madrid won 4-1 away against Granada after two assists from Toni Kroos, temporarily taking the lead in La Liga on Sunday. The goals for Real were scored by Marco Asensio, Nacho Fernandez, Vinicius Junior, and Ferland Mendy, putting Real two points ahead of second-placed Sevilla and third-placed Real Sociedad, who face Valencia today.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti's team started the match strongly, going 2-0 up within 25 minutes through goals from Asensio and Nacho, both assisted by Kroos. However, shortly after, Luis Suarez narrowed the gap for Granada with a shot that deflected off Nacho, misleading Real's goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who jumped to the left while the ball went the other way.

Granada suffered a setback in trying to equalize as Vinicius scored shortly after the break following a collective effort involving Karim Benzema and Casemiro. After Granada's Montchu was sent off for a violent foul against Vinicius, Mendy wrapped up the scoring for the visiting team.

Asensio commented to reporters after scoring his first goal since September, "It is hard to find the rhythm after the international break, but we are happy with our level. We delivered a great match." He added, "We will face a tough schedule until the Christmas period (eight matches in 30 days), and we need extra focus during that time."

This marks Real's third consecutive win in the league, as they prepare to play away against Sheriff Tiraspol in the Champions League on Wednesday. The Moldovan team previously handed Real their first loss of the season in the group stage, winning 2-1 in Madrid last September.

Granada, having only won two matches this season, currently sits third from the bottom in the standings and is in the relegation zone.
