The "Progressive Socialist Party" has finalized its decision to re-elect Nabih Berri as President of the Parliament. Sources from the party told "Asharq Al-Awsat" that there is no turning back on the decision of the "Democratic Gathering" bloc, led by Taymour Jumblatt, to continue communication with Berri as he represents one of the key political and sectarian components in Parliament. It was noted that it is too early to determine the stance of the "Democratic Gathering" regarding the election of a deputy for the presidency of the council, in light of the Free Patriotic Movement's nomination of MP Elias Bou Saab against his rival MP Ghassan Hasbani. Moreover, the promotion of a candidate for succession is misplaced, as the final decision of the change-seeking MPs regarding the battle for the council presidency and its deputy will be included on the agenda for their meeting next Monday.
