The Montazah First Prosecution in Alexandria is investigating a woman with a criminal background who was arrested by security forces for extorting money from taxi drivers in exchange for allowing them to pick up passengers.
Major General Mahmoud Abou Omra, the Director of Alexandria Security, was notified by investigative officers about a video circulating on the social media platform "Facebook" in which an individual complained about a woman engaging in acts of intimidation and extortion against drivers in the Victoria area within the jurisdiction of the Montazah First Police Station in Alexandria.
Immediately, a team was formed to verify the incident. The identified woman was found to be unemployed and residing in the jurisdiction of the department, with a criminal record. After taking proper legal measures, an ambush was set up, and she was arrested while collecting money from drivers in exchange for allowing them to load passengers. A sum of money was found in her possession.
Upon confrontation, she admitted to her activities and stated that the money was obtained from this extortion. Legal proceedings were initiated, and the necessary report was filed. Upon reviewing the case, the Public Prosecution ordered her detention pending investigation and summoned witnesses to question them.
