The brother of actress Sumaya El Alfi has requested prayers for her following the announcement of her breast cancer diagnosis and her admission to the hospital for a delicate surgery to remove a stage four malignant tumor. He stated in press remarks, "We are currently at the hospital; she just entered the operating room to remove a malignant tumor from the chest area," urging the public and her fans to pray for her so that the operation goes smoothly, allowing her to return to her audience and family safely.
Sumaya is expected to stay in the hospital for several days after the surgery based on doctors' instructions, accompanied by her son, actor Ahmed El Fishawy, and several relatives. The decision for surgery came after El Alfi experienced severe chest pain over several months, leading her to undergo tests that necessitated the removal of a tumor in that area, according to Al-Akhbar portal.
In another context, recently Sumaya El Alfi attended the private screening of the film "Ritsa" to celebrate with her son, El Fishawy, who stars in the movie alongside actor Mahmoud Hamida. Additionally, she appeared as a guest on the "Seerah" program hosted by media figure Wafaa El Kilani on dmc, with the first part of the episode aired last Friday.
Moreover, El Alfi recently revealed details about the love story that connected her ex-husband, the late Farouk El Fishawy, and actress Laila Elwi, which led to their first divorce. She mentioned that she used to read Farouk's scripts, and one time she found a letter he wrote to Laila Elwi, which became the first reason for their divorce due to the feelings involved. Afterward, they worked together, and he proposed to marry her. She told him to go ahead and marry her, and once the marriage was over, he could return as if he were traveling, but he said he couldn't do that to her.
El Alfi also spoke about the new child of her son Ahmed El Fishawy, named Titus El Fishawy, saying that she has no information about him, stating, "God knows, I don't have any information about this issue. I asked Ahmed, and he said no, and I wish it weren't true because I want a grandchild here to be in his father's and mother's arms, not just a child from a one-night stand."
El Alfi shared her reaction to her father's death, indicating that she did not understand the meaning of death when he passed away when she was sixteen. She explained that she did not know she would not see him again, but her mother later explained the meaning of death to her. She recounted her response when her father died in front of her on his bed, deciding to take her younger sister to a friend's house and asking that friend's mother to let them stay with her because the sound of crying and wailing disturbed them.
