The Italian Ministry of Defense announced that aerial photography revealed seven scattered bodies of those aboard the doomed Italian helicopter. It indicated that "the aircraft, before crashing to the ground and being completely destroyed and burned, collided with dense trees in the area during its descent, and with each impact, someone aboard may have fallen out due to the force of the crash, which explains the significant distance between each body." The Italian news agency ANSA previously reported that five bodies had been found on board the helicopter, with the search for two others ongoing.
The missing helicopter was located in the MONTE CUSNA area (REGGIO EMILIA). Earlier, the National Media Agency reported that "search efforts have been ongoing since last Thursday evening for the missing helicopter in northern Italy, carrying seven individuals including two Lebanese and four Turks, in addition to the pilot." The agency was able to obtain the names of the missing individuals, who are: Lebanese nationals Shadi Kredi and Tarek Tayeh, and Turks Kenar Serhat, Cez Arif, Ilker Ucak, and Erbilaltug Bulent.
The search is concentrated in the Modena province, in the area extending from the Alps to the Apennines specifically near the municipality of Frassinero, where it is believed the helicopter was lost in a forested and natural reserve area due to a severe storm. It is thought that the 33-year-old Italian pilot, Corrado Lavorin, with extensive professional experience, faced visibility difficulties, but efforts are underway with the aid of satellites to pinpoint its location.
Additionally, a delegation from the Lebanese Embassy in Rome, headed by Ambassador Mira Daher, met with a delegation from the Turkish Embassy yesterday in Modena and visited the provincial governor, Mrs. Alessandra Komborota, to closely monitor the search operations.
