Egyptian actor Youssef Shaaban passed away today, Sunday, at the age of 90 in Al-Ajuzah Hospital after contracting the coronavirus.
Actress Nahal Anbar, a member of the Actors' Syndicate, stated that she learned of actor Youssef Shaaban's death from the treating physician at the hospital and informed his family. She mentioned that the late actor's wife collapsed upon hearing the news. Nahal Anbar confirmed that the late actor's funeral would be held on Monday afternoon from Al-Ajuzah Hospital to the family's burial site in Sixth of October City.
Youssef Shaaban had contracted the coronavirus and was hospitalized due to the infection, but his condition severely deteriorated before entering isolation. His situation worsened further in the final hours, and he was placed on a ventilator before succumbing to death.
His daughter Zainab, during a call on the "Al-Hekaya" program on MBC Masr on Friday night, stated that her father was in the intensive care unit in the isolation ward at Al-Ajuzah Hospital in Cairo and was on a ventilator with a critical condition. Zainab noted that her father had returned from filming a series in Lebanon, then felt unwell and experienced a significant drop in blood pressure, after which his COVID-19 infection was confirmed, leading to his hospitalization. She urged the public to pray for her father's recovery.
Before his illness, actor Youssef Shaaban was filming the series "Nid Dabbabir," which is set to be aired during the upcoming Ramadan season. It is worth mentioning that the series producer Sadiq Al-Sabbagh confirmed in press statements that Shaaban had completed filming all his scenes before his infection and that he had spoken with the actor's wife to inquire about his health condition.
