Title: Wuhan Airport Sets Record for Passenger Numbers

Wuhan Airport, the capital of Hubei Province in central China, has witnessed a peak in daily passenger numbers coinciding with the five-day Labor Day holiday in the country, since resuming operations a year ago following the control of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Liu Rui, the marketing director of Hubei Airport Group, Wuhan Tianhe International Airport handled 615 passenger flights, transporting 82,600 passengers last Thursday.

Liu noted that the number of passengers reached a record since the airport reopened on April 8, 2020, when the city of Wuhan ended a massive 76-day lockdown aimed at curbing the spread of the novel coronavirus.

He added that travel peaks would continue during the holiday period, with the airport expecting to manage around 590 passenger flights daily from April 30 to May 5, an increase of 7.6% compared to the same period in 2019. Liu further mentioned that approximately 80,000 passengers would be transported through the airport daily during this time, reflecting a 9% rise from the levels recorded in 2019.
