Tunisia: Presidential Office Director Announces Resignation

The Tunisian Presidential Office Director Nadia Akacha announced her resignation from her position today, Monday. Akacha stated in a post on her Facebook page: "I decided today to submit my resignation to the President of the Republic from the position of Director of the Presidential Office after two years of work." She added: "It has been my honor to work for the supreme interest of the country from my position, alongside the President, but today, in light of fundamental differences in viewpoints regarding this paramount interest, I see it as my duty to withdraw from my position as Director of the Presidential Office, wishing everyone success and calling on God to protect this nation from any harm."

President Tunisia appointed Nadia Akacha as his Presidential Office Director upon taking office, and she is known as the "Iron Woman." Subsequently, Akacha became his right-hand woman, which made the Tunisian Brotherhood wary of her and led to systematic campaigns against her, attempting to undermine her dignity.

Akacha, 40 years old, is known for her opposition to the Brotherhood. She holds a Ph.D. in Law obtained in 2017, a Master's in Public and Financial Law in 2006 from the Faculty of Legal, Political, and Social Sciences in Tunisia, and a Bachelor's in Legal Sciences in 2004 from the same faculty, along with a certificate from the International Academy of Constitutional Law in Tunisia in 2005. She has several legal publications and scientific political articles.

Akacha worked as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Law and Political Science at the University of Tunis El Manar and a doctoral researcher in public law and comparative international law at the Max Planck Institute for Law in Germany. She is a member of the Tunisian Association of Constitutional Law, the Association of Alumni of the International Academy of Constitutional Law, and the Association of Alumni of the Faculty of Legal, Political, and Social Sciences in Tunisia.

After the 2011 revolution in Tunisia that toppled the regime of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, she participated in the European Union election observation mission in Tunisia in 2011 and was an advisor to the EU election assistance mission in 2014, entering the realm of political activity.
