Saudi media personality Reem Al-Najim revealed in her interview with Kuwaiti media figure Mai Al-Eidan details about being blackmailed for not releasing a leaked video of her dancing while wearing controversial clothing.
Reem explained that they demanded a significant amount of money to prevent the video from being published, stating, "At first, they sent me the video on WhatsApp and told me either you pay or we will publish the video." Al-Najim confirmed that the person communicating with her was using an American number to evade legal repercussions, demanding 30,000 Kuwaiti Dinars, which she described as a difficult amount for her to pay. She added, "I was shocked that the video spread in less than half an hour, and I felt embarrassed. I thought about my mother’s and brothers’ and daughters’ reactions. This video truly shook me inside because I didn’t want anyone to see me in this way. I am surprised that I have enemies because, by nature, I am a very peaceful person; I even wish my competitors in the field well."
Regarding her previous statement about activist Hind Al-Qahtani, she clarified, "People misunderstood me when I said I am not Hind Al-Qahtani. I am actually one of her followers, I respect her, and I love the positive material she presents, her struggle, her nurturing of her children, and her self-reliance to achieve her goals. All I said was that I do not present the same bold content as her."
Reem Al-Najim mentioned that her family was against her entering the acting field, saying, "When I began to become known in the field of program presenting, they were opposed, but in the end, I convinced them. I have been offered many films and series, and I want to act, but my mother is still against it, and I am trying to convince her because I genuinely intend to enter the acting field."
As for her opinion on marriage, Reem said, "Divorce broke me, especially for my daughters, because I was always used to having them in front of my eyes, and the dreams I had vanished. I had to gather myself anew. I was the one who asked for the divorce because I wanted to find myself and do something for my children." She clarified that she supports the idea of marrying again but is hesitant, concluding, "There is no man who deserves it yet."
