Basel Khayyat Remembers His Late Father:

Syrian artist Basel Khayyat shared a touching photo with his late father on his personal "Instagram" page.

The Syrian artist reminisced about his father with an emotional archival picture, expressing his deep longing for him with the caption: "This is how Abu Basel likes to see me in this picture. I miss you, Dad. May your pure soul rest in peace." Many of his colleagues in the artistic community supported him, with Maxim Khalil commenting: "May God have mercy on him, dear Basel, and may He keep your loved ones safe," while Talal Mardini added: "May God have mercy on him and forgive him; the blessing is in you." Susan Arshid wrote: "May God have mercy on him and prolong your life and the lives of your loved ones." Additionally, Shukran Murtaja and Ismail Tamr offered their condolences.

Basel's father passed away about five months ago, during which he asked his audience to pray for him through a video he posted on his "Instagram" stories, in which he appeared crying and requesting his followers to pray for his father, saying, "Unfortunately, I was shocked by my father's sudden death, and due to current circumstances, we could not hold a mourning. I ask all lovers and anyone who has had contact with Samir Khayyat to pray for him. I apologize for appearing in this video, but God knows what is in our hearts."

On the artistic front, Basel Khayyat is participating in the series "Zill" alongside several stars, including Ghassan Massoud and Haya Marashly. The series is written by Zuhair Rami Al-Mulla and directed by Mohamed Al-Khayari. He also participated in the series "Aalam Kamel," written by Lwa Yazi and Mohamed Abu Al-Laban and directed by Sadeer Massoud, who is the son of international artist Ghassan Massoud. Both works are scheduled to air in the upcoming Ramadan season of 2021.

It is noteworthy that Basel Khayyat's last work was the series "Ahd Al-Dam," produced by the "Shahid" platform, with a script written by Syrian writer Iyad Abu Shahmat and directed by Egyptian Karim Al-Shanawy. He also starred in "The Sculptor," categorized under thrillers, which was written by Syrian author Buthaina Awad and directed by Tunisian Majdi Smiri.
