Lebanese artist Abeer Neema stated that it is not necessarily required for artists to always produce entertaining work, but rather to keep pace with the lives of people and the current reality they experience, as they are part of these people, and whatever affects society also affects them as artists.
During a phone call with a local Syrian radio station, Neema expressed her desire to present a song with real and realistic content. She reflected reality in her recently released song "Flow," which portrays the effects of someone's absence from our lives and the sadness that follows due to separation. Neema affirmed that her song is directed towards everyone who has lost someone close to them and serves as a tribute to every woman living with the effects of loss and absence in silence. She noted that the music video tells the stories of five women, including her own, explaining that she has suffered from repeated miscarriages in advanced stages of pregnancy. Therefore, she found it important to highlight these cases. The events of the music video revolve around her personal story, conveying a message to every woman in the world that she is not alone. Neema mentioned that the support of her husband and friends helped her overcome the pain to some extent and view it differently. She added that she is grateful for life and everything it has given her despite all circumstances. She also expressed her intention to expand her family and, if that does not succeed, she would be content with her daughter "Yara," who represents her entire world.
Neema explained that her followers received the song "Flow" spontaneously because it spoke to their lives, emphasizing that every household has a hidden story wrapped in pain. The lyrics for "Flow" were written by Ghassan Matar, while she composed the music, with orchestration by Syrian maestro Tarek Skikker and produced by Universal Music, and directed by Eli Fahd. The song has achieved over two million views on YouTube.
When asked about her upcoming projects, Neema replied that her songs "Heidi Dini" and "Flow" are the first two songs from her album, which was originally scheduled for full release but has been delayed due to current circumstances. She later decided to release it as singles in succession, mentioning that the album contains eight fully finished songs, four of which have music videos. She added that she will release a new song that brings joy and contrasts with the content and style of "Flow," discussing those who remain, composed and orchestrated by Rayan El Haber. While she indicated that there is no specific release date for the song, it is forthcoming and will be accompanied by a music video, followed by a collaboration with Lebanese artist Marwan Khoury for a song that will feature his lyrics and melodies.
It is worth noting that Neema and her family contracted COVID-19, where she confirmed that the symptoms were endured slowly and without much difficulty, describing it as a nightmare for her and her family. The infection was collective, transmitted from her nephew despite their full adherence to preventive measures, and her husband needed oxygen while her sister's husband was hospitalized. Neema mentioned that she and her family will get vaccinated when the vaccine becomes available in Lebanon.
