# Russian Scientists Issue Warnings About American Satellite!

Russian scientists have warned that an American satellite is partially disintegrating in its orbit, posing a risk to other spacecraft orbiting Earth. The satellite in question is the American communications satellite Galaxy 11, operated by the satellite services company Intelsat, according to the Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics in Moscow, part of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It was launched in 1999 as a backup for the Intelsat 802 satellite. Scientists reported that telescopes have been monitoring several small fragments that have separated from Galaxy 11, now forming a potential threat to other satellites in orbit. The Keldysh Institute stated that the precise causes of the spacecraft's disintegration are currently unknown, but noted that it could be due to the aging of thermal insulation, solar panels, or other equipment.
