A statement was issued by the Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon, Riad Salameh, as follows: Based on articles 75 and 83 of the Money and Credit Law, the Central Bank of Lebanon will sell U.S. dollars exclusively through the SAYRAFA platform starting next Tuesday, noting that it will no longer be buying dollars via the SAYRAFA platform from that point until further notice.
As stated in Circular 161, salaries of public sector employees will continue to be paid in U.S. dollars. Additionally, withdrawals of $400 for bank account holders will continue, and Circulars 151 and 158 will also remain in effect, with payments being made in U.S. dollars.
