$112.7 Million from the IMF to Sudan

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and South Sudan have reached a staff-level agreement on emergency financing worth $112.7 million. The IMF stated, "This emergency financing will help South Sudan address food insecurity, support social spending, and strengthen foreign currency reserves." It added that its executive board will approve the funding in the coming weeks. The number of people facing severe food insecurity is estimated to be around 8.3 million.
