Dutch star Max Verstappen, driver for the Red Bull team, retained the title of champion of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the final race of the 2022 Formula 1 World Championship. Verstappen completed the race in a time of 1:27:45.914, finishing 8.771 seconds ahead of Charles Leclerc of Ferrari, and 10.093 seconds ahead of Mexican Sergio Perez, also from Red Bull, who finished in second and third places, respectively. This marks Verstappen's 15th first-place finish of the current season, further extending his record that he captured in the previous round, surpassing the legendary German Michael Schumacher, who won 13 times in the 2004 season when he was a Ferrari driver, and his compatriot Sebastian Vettel, who also finished first 13 times in 2013 while driving for Red Bull.
