Yellen Extends Deadline to Raise Debt Ceiling

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has extended the deadline for raising the federal government's borrowing limit, stating that the government may default on its obligations by the fifth of next month unless an agreement is reached to raise the debt ceiling of $31.4 trillion. Yellen had previously predicted that the government would default on June 1.
