Morocco Arrests 150 Migrants Before Crossing into Ceuta

Morocco's Ministry of Interior announced that security forces arrested around 150 migrants from sub-Saharan Africa early on Friday and prevented them from crossing into the Spanish-controlled city of Ceuta.

The ministry stated in a statement that the operation resulted in the detention of 70 migrants, and that 14 members of the Moroccan security forces and six migrants were injured, adding that "some of the migrants were armed with sticks, stones, and white weapons."

Local authorities in Ceuta reported that not a single migrant was able to cross into Spanish territory.

A source close to the authorities revealed that the border was temporarily closed to vehicle crossings to and from Ceuta as a precautionary measure, but it was reopened later on Friday morning.
