Lyles Wins 150-Meter Race at Atlanta Games

American Noah Lyles maintained his superiority over fellow countryman Erriyon Knighton today, Saturday, by winning the 150-meter race at the Atlanta City Games as part of his preparations to defend his title in the 200 meters at this year's World Championships. Lyles, who won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, recorded a time of 14.56 seconds, which is the third-fastest time ever in this race, behind Jamaican Usain Bolt and American Tyson Gay. The International Association of Athletics Federations does not officially recognize the 150-meter race.

Young Knighton, who won a bronze medal at the 2022 World Championships, finished second with a time of 14.85 seconds in the inaugural edition of the event held in Atlanta. The third place went to Kenyan Ferdinand Omanyala, who achieved a time of 14.89 seconds, setting a new African record in addition to his continental record in the 100 meters. The previous record was held by Namibian Frankie Fredericks at 14.99 seconds.
