South Korean and American troops began today, Thursday, the largest live-fire joint exercises ever, simulating a "large-scale attack" from North Korea, according to the Ministry of Defense in Seoul. The ministry noted that approximately 2,500 soldiers are participating in the five-day drills, which commenced in the city of "Pocheon," near the border with North Korea, along with tanks, howitzers, and fighter jets. It added, "The drills demonstrated our military's capability and readiness to respond to nuclear and missile threats, as well as the possibility of a full-scale attack from North Korea."
