The European Union has announced the allocation of over 47 million euros (49.97 million dollars) for humanitarian aid to North Kivu in Congo. European Commissioner Janusz Lenarczyk stated that the Union intends to send a plane loaded with medical supplies and food to the conflict-affected province in the east of the country. He indicated that the European Union is ready to mobilize all necessary resources to support humanitarian workers, including logistical and air resources, to meet the needs of the population in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Lenarczyk added that through the humanitarian airlift operation organized with the support of France and the mobilization of new funding, they reaffirm their support for the most vulnerable. French President Emmanuel Macron announced during an official visit to Kinshasa that his country would contribute 34 million euros (36.15 million dollars) to the EU's new humanitarian support initiative designated for the eastern regions of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
