The Kingdom of Bhutan has reported an outbreak of African swine fever in animals near the border with India, according to the World Organization for Animal Health. The organization, based in Paris, cited Bhutanese authorities stating that the outbreak resulted in the death of six pigs from a herd of 58 pigs in a village in the Daga area. The disease does not pose a risk to humans but leads to the death of pigs. It wiped out nearly half of the pig herds in China in 2019 and continues to appear in the form of outbreak hotspots in the country.
