Lebanese Minister of Public Works Withdraws Airport Expansion Project

The Minister of Public Works and Transport in the caretaker government, Ali Hamieh, announced during a statement from the Parliament the halt of the airport expansion project, stating: "Despite the importance of the project to create a new terminal for travelers, and following the ongoing legal debate, I hereby boldly announce that the contract will not proceed and will be considered as if it does not exist." Additionally, MP Salim Al-Sayegh proposed the establishment of a parliamentary investigative committee regarding the award of the contract for the construction of a new terminal at Rafik Hariri International Airport by mutual consent, according to Article 139 of the Parliament's internal regulations, which requires that this topic be presented at the first session of the General Assembly to form the committee.
