A statement issued by the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday indicated that Netanyahu will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a visit to Turkey at the end of this month. Relations between Israel and Turkey were previously good before deteriorating over 10 years ago, after Ankara expelled the Israeli ambassador following an Israeli attack in 2010 on a ship leading a flotilla carrying aid to the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of 10 Turkish citizens. Relations began to improve with high-level visits last year, such as Israeli President Isaac Herzog's visit to Ankara.
