Britain stated on Wednesday that "the intimidation of foreign nationals on its territory by China or any other country is unacceptable" and that it is investigating the matter, in response to a news report about what was described as a secret Chinese police station. State Minister for Crime, Policing and the Fire Service Chris Philp mentioned on Wednesday that "the government is aware of around 100 such stations worldwide." He added: "This government takes the interference in the affairs of foreign nationals here and cross-border intimidation very seriously. This is completely unacceptable, and we will do everything necessary to prevent it." The Chinese embassy in Britain has not yet responded to a request from Reuters for comment. It is worth noting that the Chinese government previously stated that "there are centers outside China run by local volunteers, not by Chinese police officers, aimed at helping Chinese citizens renew documents and provide other services."
