Assad Receives Invitation from UAE to Attend COP28

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has received an invitation from UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed to attend the United Nations Climate Conference (COP28) in Dubai. The Syrian News Agency revealed that Assad welcomed the Chargé d'Affaires of the UAE Embassy, Abdul Hakim Al-Naimi, who presented him with an official invitation to attend the conference scheduled to take place between November 30 and December 12. The UAE expressed that participating countries in the UN climate negotiations, to be hosted in December, should agree on "phasing out fuel emissions gradually rather than stopping the production of oil, gas, and coal."
