UK Announces New Humanitarian Program for Yemen Worth $206 Million

The British Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office announced today, Friday, a new humanitarian program for Yemen worth £160 million ($205.7 million) aimed at achieving food security, reducing mortality and disease outbreaks, and addressing malnutrition among women and children. The program, which lasts four years, aims to provide primary healthcare, including nutrition, clean water, sanitation, and sexual and reproductive health services to over one million women and children annually, in addition to assisting and protecting those affected by the conflict. The announcement of support follows a three-day visit by British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly to the Middle East, during which he met in Jordan with officials from UNICEF and partners dealing with the humanitarian situation in Yemen to discuss the details of the new humanitarian program.
